Missed you, Az! You tell the best stories. And your life is fascinating. Win.
im a long time reader of your japanese material. you really know how to tell an interesting story through humor. ive always been interested in the japan and your work gives me some good insight. i went back to your old op9 website and read some of your fiction work. you have an amazing talent. i could really relate to fragile and sex and sushi. i just want to encourage you to keep in up. i hope to be reading current fiction from you in the future.
Great stories! They stretch out over a long time period, but even when you arrived at your teaching posts, it looks like your Japanese was fine; even speaking with young students. I find that the hardest for me because of the plain form and contractions they use. How long and where did you study Japanese before doing the JET?
Thanks!
Street Fighter X Tekken! Embrace it young grasshopper!
I missed you soo much Az! It’s good to know that you’re back to posting. Just thought I’d give outpost nine one last goodbye before moving on and voila! you posted something! Anyway, glad to know you’re alive, been with you since ’08.
Cheers and hugs!
You have an email?
And is the best way to contribute to that laptop the donation bin?
Hi Az,
Do you have a working email?
azrael@outpostnine.com does not work….
Crap, hit enter on accident. Anyways, I bet you get this all the time, but would you answer some questions of mine? It’s not something answered by your FAQ or JET, and it’s not about japan itself…..
Hey there – happened to come across this website, and after reading the whole page of posts, I must say, your stories made me smile and provide a sense of nostalgia and agreement with many things you’ve said, even though I was in a very different situation, and in Japan for much less time than yourself.
I won’t ask you questions that I would like to ask right now. Instead I just wanted to say I’m glad I’ve found this site, and looking forward to read more from you, and hopefully even get more properly acquainted with you at some other time.
Take it easy

Man! Glad to have found you again. Missed your stories. A quick google and I’m at your new home. And it’s about time you discovered the wonders of a nice CMS like wordpress. Welcome back!

Hey Az,
I came across a pretty interesting article (in my opinion) dealing with a male African-American teacher living in Japan, and some discrimination he faced.

AZ, I hope you and your family are okay over there!?! Prayers going out in hopes you, and yours are safe.
Alright so I’m not sure where to post this, but I tried to register at Outpost 9 and its been 2 weeks and no administrator has activated my account yet and your email listed at OP9 doesn’t work anymore apparently.
Good to hear you and your family is ok. Your lucky to be in Osaka. I’m in Shizuoka and still feel the quakes and aftershocks. But they aren’t so bad anymore.
I have been a fan for your site for a very very very long time (since about 2004-ish), Love your stories and the humor. If I planned to come out to japan could ya show me around?
Hey Az, been a long time fan of your work. Have you ever considered writing for Cracked.com? They’re a humor site that post pretty hilarious articles about every topic imaginable, and anyone can write for them just by showing their magnificent funny writing skills. I’m a fan of their site too and I think your style would be perfect there. They pay writers and can get millions of readers per article, so much exposure. Here’s their annual recruiting article you a check out if you’re interested: http://www.cracked.com/article_19574_are-you-secretly-great-writer-like-money-read-this..html
